Dear Black Woman

Black Girl Magic.png

Dear Black Woman,

Just in case you haven't heard it lately, you are MAGIC.

2020 has been a hot blazing mess. It has been a year of confusion and challenge. And yet, while dealing with your own challenges, you have been bold. You conquered your fears. You have been a mom, a wife, a friend, a sister, a coach and a friend.

You marched for George Floyd. You cried tears for Breonna Taylor. You educated your white friends and shared your pain. You were strong for your husbands and sons when the world beat them down.

You prayed and continued to support your church. You figured out how to meet your job demands while balancing virtual school for your kids. You started businesses at record rates.

You led cities amid crisis while being belittled. You held it together for your community when you were afraid yourself. And you called on your family, friends, and neighbors to remind them to vote. You moved mountains.

You give until you're empty yet your radiance still shines.

You make change whenever you step into the room. You have the power to change a nation.

YOU are MAGIC. And don't you ever forget it.

Much love,

Shanel (Another magical Black Woman)
